Anime Starting Over

Ash is traveling with two brand new characters, and for the first time no older character is sticking around. Even Team Rocket have been revamped, no longer being comic relief for the last 13 years.

Long-lasting characters such as Brock and Wobbufett (!) are gone. Never would I have thought Wobbufett would have been axed, especially since it lasted so long on Jessie's roster. Both Nurse Joy and Officer Jenny have been redesigned. While Ash/Pikachu remain and him restarting with a new team is nothing new, (since he did this back in Hoenn), everthing else feels like a full clean slate this time around.

Looking back, AG was originally viewed as a clean slate, but it was really treated more like a direct sequel to the original series, which is what it essentially was. Its just back then at the time, it was when the first huge change of the series happened, but looking back now it felt familiar with the original series. DP went one step further, focusing mostly on battles/rivals/villains, but it still kept a lot of the things that started in AG, at least in format.

BW almost feels like a true clean slate and an almost reboot, if only still having small traces of continuity with TR and Oak/Delia.

Do you think the anime was always leading to this? Eventually leading to Ash with an all-new group? Each generation severed more and more ties with the original series, but BW literally feels like a new version of Kanto, with similar pacing and group dynamics.

yea maybe the writers were a startover too, cuz remember ash saying it was a year since they were in viridian in season 1

I miss the old openings.

the older openings were better, it seems as if they get a bit worse each season, alot worse in season 11 (battle dimension)

Does anyone else think 4kids was better at making opening songs. They kind of seemed to go down after Pokemon USA(now Pokemon International) took over.

i don't know to be honest, but like i said te first 5, were good, then the next 3 were ok, then it went down hill from there in my opinion
