Does anyone else try and run past trainers without battling them in the games to get to the next city quicker?

i try to wait until they look away before i make my move, but there are some trainers you have to fight for some reason

city #1 (visit pokecenter) ------> city #2 ---------> route/lose -------> (go to city #1 since that is the last pokecenter you visited)

so yea that's why i said the last pokecenter you went to, because you might pass through a town and not go in their pokecenter

but it would suck if you like did something rlly hard and then you lost a battle and had to redo it. its not allways pokemon centers is it? what about the houses that they let you rest in?
